LightBurn Demo 05 – Arrays and Grids

The Lightburn Software Series

The Lightburn Software is probably the best generic laser cutting software available (I use it for almost all of my laser work). This series has LightBurn tutorials, hints and tips as well as the occasional speed comparisons between it and RDWorks. In this video session, we learn all about LightBurn Arrays and Grids. My thanks to the team at Lightburn for allowing me to embed their videos. This video covers the LightBurn Arrays and Grids Features.

Check out the LightBurn Arrays and Grids features that will allow you fit as many items onto a sheet as possible in order to minimise material usage and lower costs.

0:00 here’s a quick look at LightBurns new a

0:02 grid feature so let’s say you want to

0:05 make a lot of dolphins so I have a

0:08 dolphin I want to make a bunch of them

0:11 so this is the right size click the grid

0:16 button and then you get a pop-up here

0:18 that gives you the options basically

0:22 just scroll the mouse or change the

0:24 counts to adjust how many of them you

0:26 get and you’ve got options like whether

0:30 to do the spacing from edges so if I set

0:34 them to be zero millimetres apart it’s

0:36 basically spacing them out at the size

0:38 of the dolphin I can also change the

0:41 size to be distance from Centre so if I

0:44 want them exactly 40 millimetres apart I

0:46 can do that as well you can also change

0:52 the direction that you’re generating

0:53 them in so right now they’re generating

0:55 from the bottom corner down here and

0:58 they’re going in this direction and X in

1:01 this direction in Y I can reverse that

1:03 direction on either axis to make them

1:05 generate the other way depending on

1:07 where the original one was that I

1:09 grabbed you can also do some neat things

1:11 like mirror alternating columns or rows

1:15 to try to make them fit better together

1:18 so if you for example if I’m only to

1:22 make two rows of this I can squeeze them

1:26 together really nicely if I pack them

1:28 like this you can see they fit so it’s

1:32 not quite a nesting feature but it’s a

1:34 helpful way to spit out a lot of

1:37 something in a very short period of time

1:39 and of course you can do grids of a grid

1:42 so if I grab this group and I go back to

1:45 the grid I can make another vertical row

1:49 and then they’re spaced properly that’s

1:53 it
